I have to recommend Langya Bang (琅琊榜 Nirvana in Fire) in terms of plot excitement. If just from the beauty of the costumes and props, Heli Huating (鹤唳华亭 Royal Nirvana) is well worth watching!

The classic works! I only watched the older versions of Journey to the West and Three Kingdoms. Although the picture quality is not as good as the drama of recent years, but the acting is absolutely top-notch.

For historical dramas with a lot of detail I really like Legend of Hao Lan which is based off the story of Qin Shi Huang’s mother, but it’s harder to understand all the little nuances of it if you don’t understand chinese

Maybe it is not. It seems to have pleated skirt, which I think wouldn’t be the case of zhiju. Maybe it is Qiyao Ruqun.
