Privacy Policy

We want you to understand how and why Newhanfu (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our websites, mobile apps, widgets, and other online products and services (collectively, the “Services”), or when you otherwise interact with us or receive a communication from us. This Privacy Policy applies to all of our Services.

Our website address is: https://www.newhanfu.com.

By using the Services, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information you provide directly to us when you use the Services. This includes:

  • Account information: If you create a Newhanfu account, we may require a username and password. Your username is public and does not have to be related to your real name. You may also provide other account information, such as an email address, bio, or profile picture. We also store your account preferences and settings.
  • Content you submit: We collect the content you submit to the Services, including posts, comments, saved drafts, private messages, chats, reports, and other communications with moderators and with us. Your content may include text, links, images, GIFs, and videos.
  • Actions you take: We collect information about your actions when using the Services, including interactions with content (e.g., voting, saving, hiding, reporting), interactions with other users (e.g., following, friending, blocking), and interactions with communities (e.g., subscriptions, moderator status).
  • Transactional information: If you purchase products or services from us, we collect certain information, including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, and information about the product or service you are purchasing. Payment information (such as credit card numbers) is processed by industry-standard payment processors (e.g., Stripe). We do not store full payment card details on our servers.
  • Other information: You may choose to provide other information directly to us, such as when you fill out a form, participate in promotions, apply for a job, request customer support, or otherwise communicate with us.

Information We Collect Automatically

When you access or use the Services, we may automatically collect information about you, including:

  • Log and usage data: We may log information such as your IP address, user-agent string, browser type, operating system, referral URLs, device information (e.g., device IDs), device settings, pages visited, links clicked, the requested URL, and search terms. Except for the IP address used to create your account, we delete collected IP addresses after 100 days.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We may receive information from cookies, web beacons, tags, pixels, and similar technologies. We use this information to improve your experience, understand user activity, personalize content and advertisements, and improve the quality of our Services. For example, we store and retrieve information about your preferred language and other settings.
  • Location information: We may receive and process information about your location. With your consent, we may collect precise location information from your mobile device (e.g., via GPS or Bluetooth). We may also receive location information when you choose to share it on the Services, or we may derive your approximate location from other information, including your IP address.

Information Collected by Third Parties

  • Embedded content: The Services may display linked content in-line via “embeds.” For example, posts that link to YouTube or Twitter may load the linked video or tweet directly from those services to your device. We do not control how third-party services collect data when they serve you their content via embeds. Embedded content is governed by the privacy policies of the service from which it is embedded.
  • Service providers: We may receive information about you from third parties, such as payment processors, analytics providers, and advertising partners.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

Much of the information on the Services is public and accessible to everyone, even without an account. By using the Services, you are directing us to share this information publicly and freely. When you submit content to a public part of the Services, any visitor or user will be able to see that content, the username associated with it, and the date and time you originally submitted it. We allow other sites to embed public Newhanfu content via our embed tools and allow third parties to access public content via our API and similar technologies. Some parts of the Services may be private or quarantined, but they may become public (e.g., at a moderator’s option in the case of private groups). Please consider this before posting.

Your Newhanfu account has a public profile page that contains information about your activities, such as your username, prior posts and comments, how long you have been a member, and your Newhanfu Premium status.

We offer social sharing features that let you share content or actions with other media. Your use of these features enables the sharing of certain information with your friends or the public, depending on your settings with the third party providing the feature.

We only share nonpublic information about you in the following ways:

  • With your consent: We may share information with your consent or at your direction.
  • With linked services: If you link your Newhanfu account with a third-party service, we will share the information you authorize with that service. You can control this sharing as described in “Your Choices.”
  • With service providers: We may share information with vendors, consultants, and other service providers who need access to carry out work for us, such as payment processors, cloud hosting providers, and third-party ads measurement providers. Their use of personal data is subject to appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
  • To comply with the law: We may share information in response to a request if we believe disclosure is in accordance with, or required by, any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, including national security or law enforcement requirements. Where legally permitted, we will attempt to provide you with prior notice before disclosing your information. See our Transparency Report for more information.
  • In an emergency: We may share information if we believe it is necessary to prevent imminent and serious bodily harm to a person.
  • To enforce our policies and rights: We may share information if we believe your actions are inconsistent with our User Agreement, rules, or other policies, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of ourselves and others.
  • With our affiliates: We may share information among Newhanfu and any of our parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, and other companies under common control and ownership.
  • Aggregated or de-identified information: We may share information that has been aggregated or anonymized so that it cannot reasonably be used to identify you.
  • Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or uses of your personal information.

We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how our customers use the Site. You can read more about how Google uses your personal information here: https://www.google.com/intl/en/policies/privacy/. You can opt out of Google Analytics here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

4. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, web beacons, tags, pixels, and similar technologies to collect information about your browsing activities and to improve our Services. Cookies are data files placed on your device that often include an anonymous unique identifier. Log files track actions on the Site and collect data such as IP address, browser type, internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps. Web beacons, tags, and pixels are electronic files used to record information about how you browse the Site.

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually set your browser to remove or reject first- and third-party cookies. Please note that if you remove or reject cookies, this could affect the availability and functionality of our Services. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You have choices about how to protect and limit the collection, use, and sharing of information about you when you use the Services. Some choices are available to everyone, while others only apply if you have an account.

Accessing and Changing Your Information

You can access and change certain information through the Services.

Deleting Your Account

You may delete your account information at any time by contacting the administrator. When you delete your account, your profile is no longer visible to other users and is disassociated from content you posted under that account. Please note that posts, comments, and messages you submitted prior to deleting your account will still be visible to others unless you first delete the specific content. We may also retain certain information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes after you delete your account.

Controlling Cookies

Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. You can usually choose to set your browser to remove or reject first- and third-party cookies. Please note that removing or rejecting cookies may affect the availability and functionality of our Services.

Do Not Track

Most modern web browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. However, there is no accepted standard for how a site should respond to this signal, and we do not take any action in response to it. Instead, we offer the choices described in this policy to manage the collection and use of information about you.

Controlling Promotional Communications

You may opt out of receiving some or all categories of promotional communications from us by following the instructions in those communications or by updating your email options in your account preferences. If you opt out of promotional communications, we may still send you non-promotional communications, such as information about your account or your use of the Services.

Newsletter & Subscribe

We only send newsletters to our Site’s subscribers. If you no longer wish to receive newsletters, please go to “My Subscriptions” to unsubscribe.

Controlling Mobile Notifications

With your consent, we may send promotional and non-promotional push notifications or alerts to your mobile device. You can deactivate these messages at any time by changing the notification settings on your mobile device.

Controlling Location Information

You can control how we use location information inferred from your IP address for content recommendation purposes via the Safety and Privacy settings on your account. If you initially consent to our collection of more precise location information from your device, you can subsequently stop the collection at any time by changing the preferences on your mobile device.

European Residents

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact us through the contact information below.

Additionally, if you are a European resident, we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfill contracts we might have with you (for example, if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

California Residents

If you are a California resident, you have the right to request information about the categories of personal information we collect, the sources, the business purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it. You also have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions. To exercise these rights, please contact us. We do not sell your personal information.

7. Data Retention

We store the information we collect for as long as it is necessary for the purpose(s) for which we originally collected it. We may retain certain information for legitimate business purposes or as required by law. When you place an order through the Site, we will maintain your Order Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.

8. Security

We take measures to help protect information about you from loss, theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. For example, we use HTTPS while information is being transmitted. We also enforce technical and administrative access controls to limit which of our employees have access to nonpublic personal information. You can help maintain the security of your account by configuring two-factor authentication.

9. International Transfers

Newhanfu is based in the United States. If you access or use the Services from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will let you know by revising the date at the top of the policy. If the changes, in our sole discretion, are material, we may also notify you by sending an email to the address associated with your account (if you have provided an email address) or by otherwise providing notice through our Services. We encourage you to review the Privacy Policy whenever you access or use our Services or otherwise interact with us to stay informed about our information practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy.
