The spread of culture is never an overnight process. As a traditional Chinese dress, traditional Hanfu carries the spiritual pursuit and value orientation of the Chinese people.
The appearance of traditional Hanfu in China Fashion Week is a major breakthrough in the culture of Hanfu, representing not only the attention of the Chinese audience, but also the hope to show the beauty of Hanfu to the world.
At this year’s China Fashion Week, Chu He Ting Xiang (楚和听香) has brought their brand-new product series, which combined the elements of Chinese Hanfu clothing with ancient light and shadow effects, handsome men and elegant women dressed in different styles and colors of Hanfu passed by on the stage, with the graceful Chinese gauze sleeves and skirts shimmering like water waves, looked fairy-like in the mix of lights.
The show not only showed the beauty of the Hanfu itself, but also the harmonious atmosphere that is created between the multiple sets of Hanfu. Two main styles were on display: the traditional court Hanfu style, and the Han elements combined with Western-style.
1. Traditional court Hanfu style
In the courtly style, the hanfu is mainly presented in solid colors. The wide sleeves and placket of the Hanfu are highlighted, and each one is so finely crafted that the difference can be clearly seen in the texture. The entire court style Hanfu is made of a lighter gauze, and the wind from the models walking across the stage lifts up the corners and cuffs, making them look like fairies, looking particularly elegant and spectacular, showing the character of the Chinese costume very well.
2. Han elements combined with Western-style
The garments in this part are mainly designed in a pattern that combines elements of Chinese and Western classical costume features, such as a blend of Chinese embroidery and skirts hem, as well as Western design patterns and cuff features. The designer has managed to keep the ratio between the two styles under control, combining Chinese patterned styles with Western court dresses and showing the openness of traditional Chinese dress to the outside world through subtle details.
By adapting the traditional Chinese costume into a formal dress style, the exhibition looks full of design sense and novelty, while the overall style and temperament of the models are very much in line with the requirements of the fashion show, which makes the whole exhibition look high-end and atmospheric.
In addition to this, some foreign models also wore fashions with elements of Chinese Hanfu, which, thanks to a series of changes and improvements to the traditional Hanfu, did not look out of place on foreign models dressed in it.
Chu He Ting Xiang has also been working on the restoration and display of traditional Chinese costumes. Using the most typical images from the Dunhuang Grottoes as a reference, reproduced the unique charm of the costumes of Dunhuang in terms of shape, pattern, and color.
As a carrier of Chinese culture, Hanfu is being revived and is adapting to modern rhythms, and thanks to Chu He Ting Xiang, traditional Hanfu costumes are becoming better and more vibrant, and more people have become aware of traditional culture.
