respectful hanfu art
I want to draw some pretty hanfu art, but I want to make sure I’m being appropriate and respectful. Do y’all think it’s okay to directly redraw a set from an image/reference? Secondly, how much modern interpretation/alterations would be allowed? I’m sure the rules are slack enough, but I’m always a little worried that I’ll break some really grave one,,,

I’m an artist myself and interested in these debates. For me, you can draw a complete set from a reference non problem, that’s what references are for. As to how much you can alter, it depends on your discourse: for example, you make as much alterations as you like, that’s your freedom as an artist, as long as you don’t claim it to be historically accurate or that your representation is in any way scholarly reserached. That’s my opinion 😉 I’m not aware of any grave rules…
