I’m thinking of making a ming dynasty hanfu, but I’m struggling to find good ideas. since there aren’t many opinions in men’s hanfu. I want to avoid something too formal looking tho is still want to use silk.

Creditable sources for historical stitching techniques?
I’ve been looking into how the construction of ming dynasty hanfu, but I’ve seen a complete lack of information on the the types of handstiches they used for seams and hems. I assumed they knew how to do a basic slip stitches. But are historical hanfu garments made entirely with slip stitches like kimonos? I feel like that’s unlikely. Any ideas?

Of course machine would be easier. But researching proper methods and techniques will give you a more authentic result. Shouldn’t you learn the rules before you break them?

The picture in your post seems to be a book of Shenyi illustrations. I didn’t find it. But I did find this ancient book, in number 08 costume category, page 35, which also has a picture about Shenyi.
