I know, I know, right?! lols.😂 I had to sand the dowel down which took forever. And then I took experience from youtube tutorials on French flower beading. But I struggled the most on the creativity part: choosing colors and what theme to go by. This one was azure sky on clouds.

Their costumes are what got me hooked. And the plot—-actually, the characters being fairies and magical creature spirit or demi-gods are what made me fall in love ♥ It was the first time, I got to see the established 3 realms of existence: Heaven, Earth (Mortal Realm), and Demon world on Chinese terms that come across to me as very natural. I love how the characters evolve in stages and their clothes reflect that.

I haven’t tried to compare them in detail, because I don’t know much about hanfu in Hong Kong either. Another thing is that there are actually a lot of merchants producing hanfu on the mainland, each with subtle differences, but they can’t be exactly the same.
I’ve seen an interview with Hong Kong girls wearing a hanfu to an event before, and from the video, HK hanfu looks like are very close to mainland hanfu.😂😂

This does not seem to be a traditional hanfu, but more like a modified style of clothing. If it is a Song Dynasty belt, check out this article: https://www.newhanfu.com/6147.html
Traditional hanfu belts can be divided into two types: one is fabric, made of various silk, cotton and hemp, commonly known as “Tao Dai (绦带)”. The other category is leather, made of various kinds of raw and cooked leather, commonly known as “Ge Dai (革带)”.
The two types of belts have different changes in the way they are tied with the development of clothing, the way they are tied directly (including the button ties) and with the belt ties. Although the types of belts are different, they also have common belts, such as belt hooks and belt loops.
Maybe I should ask @Ling to write a post about this specifically.

I don’t have a table or floor to cut. I hung up the fabric with pins in place and cut the whole piece that way. So end up with front and back both in one cut. The collar is same material so it ran when I sewed it on. If I had used a wide band 3 inch ribbon for hem, then it might look nicer.

I use a sewing machine, yes. I cannot embroider to save my life. 😂😂 The materials are all bought from the store. I was lucky enough to find them in the bargain shelf. The beizi was cut from a 4 yard length. It was pre-designed with the flowers ( likely machine embroidered ). The qixiong was 8 yards plus inner lining.
