I dare say, 素纱襌衣 was ahead of the times even modern day textiles. If only that was kept going or preserved. I doubt there is any improvement possible to sturdy clothing like that to survive thousands of years.

I think it becouse of the developed textile industry of that time. Modern scientists have tried to replicate it. But perhaps the modern silk is not quite the same as the ancient one, and it is very difficult to make the exact same one.
