1. Measure your chest

With good posture, wrap a measuring tape under your arms around your back and take the measurement at fullest part of your chest. Be sure to keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor.

2. Measure your waist

Our waist can be a difficult area to measure! The natural waistline is halfway between the lowest rib you can feel and the top, outside edge of the hip bone. One trick might help you find this spot are to stand up straight and tilt over. Where your torso creases is where your waistline is.

Size/CM Chest Waist Height

S 82 80 160
M 86 84 165
L 90 88 170
XL 94 92 175
XXL 98 96 180

Red and Black: The Swordsman’s Palette

Red over black is the classic wuxia pairing — the colour combination that reads as a swordsman before a single line of dialogue does. Here it is a warm, deep red across the shirt set against a matte black skirt, the two of them held together by a red waist ribbon. Gold embroidery runs along the collar band and caps each shoulder: a baoxiang flower (宝相花), the layered rosette that Chinese weavers built out of lotus and peony forms in the Tang dynasty and that recurs across the painted textiles of Dunhuang. It was read as an emblem of purity and good fortune — and it is also why this set photographs so well in low light, because the gold catches whatever light there is.

Fabric & Fit

Both pieces are cut from the same cloth, sold by the mill as an imitation-linen four-way stretch — a polyester weave with a slubbed surface and a fine, bamboo-like grain. It is soft, breathable and hangs with real weight, which is what keeps the skirt’s pleats in line instead of collapsing into each other. The name describes the look, not the content: there is no linen in this garment, it is 100% polyester — which also means it creases far less than real linen and can be washed at home without a trip to the cleaners.

The cut is a straight-collar dajin shirt over a one-piece pleated skirt. The shirt’s front panel crosses to one side and fastens at the side seam, so the embroidered band runs on a diagonal across the front rather than straight down the middle. The skirt is a single panel of cloth, knife-pleated and wrapped on, tied with its own ribbon. The shirt is a short top — 60 to 75 cm from shoulder to hem depending on size — not a full-length robe, so it sits cleanly above the skirt line. Medium weight, built for spring and autumn, with a moderate four-way stretch.

Men and women wear the same set, which is why the size run reaches from a women’s 160 up to a men’s 175. The piece-by-piece figures are in the Measurements table above; the waistband length is the one to read if you are between sizes, since 104 cm at S rising to 129 cm at XL is the amount of skirt you actually wrap around yourself.

Styling Inspiration

  • Martial arts and cosplay shoots — add forearm wraps, a hair ribbon and a straight sword. The set was photographed exactly this way; the sword and wraps are sold separately.
  • Paired sets — the shirt and skirt are cut for both men and women from the same size run, so two people can dress from the same listing.
  • Stage and performance — sword forms, fan dance, school cultural days. The pleated skirt swings and the red carries to the back of a hall.
  • Everyday wear — the shirt works on its own as a bold red top over plain trousers, and the black skirt takes a simple shirt. Split the set and you get two pieces that outlive the costume.

Buyer Size Reference

Measurements shared by recent buyers, with the size each one chose.

Height (cm) Weight (kg) Size
160 53 S
163 50 S
165 60 M
166 53 M
168 55 M
170 60 L
174 60 L
176 85 L
183 78 XL

Read it as a spread rather than a rule. Buyers between 159 and 168 cm sit across S and M, and from 170 cm upward most took L. The one consistent note is that the shirt is cut generously and the skirt sits long on shorter frames — several buyers who normally take their height size were advised to step down one, so if you are between two sizes, stepping down is the safer call.

Care & Notes

Hand wash in cold water and do not leave either piece to soak. Both the red and the black release dye in the first few washes, so wash each one on its own or with like colours — never with light fabrics. Do not scrub the embroidery with a stiff brush, and do not bleach.

Dry the pieces flat, or hang them on a hanger somewhere dry and ventilated, then iron at medium temperature. The embroidery is machine-stitched, so a loose thread end or a skipped stitch can occasionally show up; they can be trimmed with a small pair of scissors and will not run.

Before You Buy

  • • Prices are listed in US dollars. PayPal and Stripe convert the currency automatically at checkout. If your local bank card is declined, try a different card.
  • • Color may vary slightly from the photos depending on your monitor settings. Product photos are taken with fill lighting, so the item can look a little brighter on screen than it does in person.
  • • All sizes are measured by hand, so please allow up to 3 cm of difference. Items are produced in batches and are sometimes improved between runs, so small details — such as print placement, the material or color of pendants, buttons, and other accessories — may differ slightly from the photos.
