4th Flower Festival Takes Place in Fuqing on April 4

On April 4, the fourth Flower Festival closed at a Wanda plaza in Fuqing (福清). A local Hanfu association and the mall brought ancient spring rituals back to life.

At 7 PM sharp, the Twelve Flower Deities ceremony began. Performers cleansed hands with clear water. They bowed to flower gods. Someone read a prayer scroll. Then came the hair-pinning ritual. Each deity received a fresh flower. Finally, they shared blessed food. A martial arts group called Rongwu (融武) performed "Flying Fish." Their moves mixed hard kicks with soft silk sleeves. The flower deities danced "Siling Order." Children from the association’s second generation did "Little Flower Fairy." A poet recited "Fuqing Ode," pulling local history into the night air.

Between 4 PM and 8:10 PM, the flower deities and a "flower hairpin man" walked the venue three times. Their Hanfu robes caught the spring breeze. Flower branches swayed on their heads. They smiled and waved at the crowd. Eight booth owners ran themed activity areas. Visitors made traditional crafts and played old games. Young students from Qiao Zui Ba (巧嘴巴) performed on a side stage. Their young hands and steady voices showed that old customs do not fade. They pass on.

The festival worked with local bookshops, an experience hall, academies, and a Hanfu shop. The plaza filled with families, teenagers in Hanfu, and curious shoppers. Organizers said they want people to step into the rituals, not just watch. After four years, the event has become a local mark. Next year, they promise more.
