International Hanfu Show in Tianjin on April 5

On April 5, Tianjin (天津) Cultural Center turned into a runway. A Hanfu parade kicked off, but the usual crowd looked different. Dozens of international students from Tianjin Foreign Studies University walked in silk robes and flowing skirts. Cameras clicked everywhere.

“First time in Hanfu. I only saw it in dramas before,” said Ruan Mani from Armenia. She spun around, her dress lifting in the wind. Passersby cheered.

The students didn't just walk. They learned old gestures—folding hands, bowing slightly, greeting the way ancient Chinese did. Soso from Gabon spoke in smooth Chinese: “Hanfu is not fabric. It's stories. It's beauty.”

The parade moved past the museum, the gallery, the crabapple avenue. Along the route, interactive booths let visitors try calligraphy and tea pouring. Many students filmed short videos for TikTok and sent photos home. Anna from Ukraine smiled: “My family saw the pictures. They want to come to Tianjin now.”

A local official said these students speak louder than any ad. Their real joy spreads faster than polished campaigns.

After the event, Dasha (达莎) from Ukraine reflected: “Walking through Tianjin's landmarks in Hanfu—I am not a tourist. I am part of the story.”

Spring wind brushed through silk and smiles. East Asian robes met global eyes. For one afternoon, Tianjin Cultural Center became a living room for the world.
